Rojulu Marayi
Rojulu Marayi Movie Review
Rojulu Marayi is a low budget film that has generated interest among the film buffs as Dil Raju and Maruthi are associated with it. Maruthi who has stopped making youthful films filled with vulgar jokes has penned this script that is mainly targeted at the youngsters. Although Rojulu Marayi looks like a youthful romantic entertainer from the outset, it has more to it. Maruthi tried to add every successful element that has worked at the box office which finally turned out to be a half baked mess.
What is About It?
Rambha (Tejaswi) is an opportunist who uses Peter (Parvateesam) that he is madly in love with her. Her friend Aadhya (Kruthika) is in love with someone else but uses Ashwath (Chetan) to her benefits. While Rambha and Aadhya are searching for ways to get rid of Peter and Ashwath respectively, they come to know that their husbands will die soon after the marriage. After giving it a thought they decide to marry Peter and Ashwath. Will Peter and Ashwath face the fate as told by the astrologer?
Performance:
Parvateesam who shined in Kerintha with his Srikakulam accent has once again stole the show with his diction and comedy timing. His exchanges with Tejaswi are hilarious and turn out to be the major highlight of the film. Chetan is just okay. There is nothing to write about him. Kruthika is good in the latter half of the film. Vasu got a notable character and he is alright. Raja Ravindra, Ali, Posani Krishna Murali are limited to few scenes.
Technicalities:
Murali Krishna cannot be blamed for the botched up product as the major flaw lies in the script itself. It was written by Maruthi who didn't have a clue about what to do with this plot at the halfway mark. Maruthi added Prema Katha Chitram flavor to it which has backfired big time. Director did fine in presenting the film in a decent way within the limited budget.
JB's music is mediocre. Background score doesn't lift the spirits. Camera work is alright. Dialogues are witty at times. The film is made on a very tight budget
Analysis
Rojulu Marayi is like a mix of various genres that have worked at the box office in recent times. Maruthi wrote a script that has space for youthful romance, comedy, horror and mystery. Mixing so many genres into one is not as easy as it sounds. Quite understandably Maruthi made a mess of it.
First half has its moments despite the awkwardness in the plot. Parvateesam's one liners will appeal to the youngsters. At one point it looked like Maruthi and the director are entirely relied upon Parvateesam to pull this off. However the film takes an interesting turn at the interval mark and everything goes downhill after that.
Second half is a half hearted attempt at cheap humor. Every attempt at comedy misfired and the film just couldn't redeem at all after the interval point. You can simply walk out of the theaters during the interval and trust me you wouldn't miss anything. In fact you will do yourself a favor by skipping the messy second half.
